The right immobiliser for the car — and for your policy.
Not every vehicle needs the same solution. For many cars — particularly classics, motorbikes and vehicles where an insurer asks specifically for a Cat 2 device — a properly fitted insurance-approved immobiliser is exactly the right answer. I supply and fit Cat 2 systems to the standard insurers require.
A Cat 2 immobiliser cuts the vehicle's ability to start without authorisation, giving you a recognised, insurer-approved layer of protection. As with everything I do, it's installed discreetly and to a standard — never rushed, never bodged.
If you're not sure what your insurer wants, send me the policy wording. I'll tell you whether a Cat 2 immobiliser, a Ghost, a tracker, or a combination is the sensible choice for your vehicle.

Thatcham Category 2, properly understood
Cat 2 is the Thatcham classification for a standalone electronic immobiliser — a device that prevents the engine from starting without the right authorisation. It's the recognised standard insurers reference for vehicles without effective factory immobilisation.

Who actually needs one
Classic cars built before electronic immobilisers became standard; specialist or kit-built vehicles; older motorbikes; and any car where your insurer has asked specifically for a Cat 2 device on the policy. If you're not sure, send me the wording and I'll read it for you.

Cat 2 vs the Autowatch Ghost
A Ghost is a CAN-bus, PIN-sequence device aimed at modern cars and relay theft. A Cat 2 immobiliser is a hard-wired electronic cut to a starting circuit — the right tool for older or simpler electrical systems, and the one insurers usually name on classic and specialist policies.

Supplied, fitted and certified
I supply the unit, fit it discreetly, test it on the vehicle and give you the paperwork your insurer will want to see. No off-the-shelf bracketry on display, no rushed wiring — fitted the way I'd fit it on my own car.
Old-school electrical work, done properly.
An immobiliser is only as good as the install. On a classic, that means understanding the original loom and working with it, not hacking through it. Thirty-eight years on the tools means I've seen most of these systems before — and I treat the wiring with the same care as the bodywork.
Every job is done personally at your home or workplace within 25 miles of Kenilworth, with no travel charge. TASSA-approved, DBS checked, and backed by a minimum 24-month warranty (subject to T&Cs).
If your policy mentions Cat 1 (alarm + immobiliser combined), an aftermarket S5/S7 tracker, or you simply want the best protection for the car, I'll tell you straight — even if that means recommending a different product.
