A warning light is a clue, not an answer.
Plugging in a reader and reading off a code is the easy part — anyone can do that. Understanding what the code actually means for your vehicle, and tracing it back to the real cause, is where four decades of experience earns its keep.
I diagnose prestige and performance cars carefully and honestly, so you're never paying to replace parts on a hunch. If I find something outside what I do, I'll tell you plainly and point you to someone I'd trust. That honesty is how I've kept customers for decades.
- 01
Find the real fault, not a code
Plugging in a reader is the start of the job, not the end. A fault code points at a system — it doesn't name the broken component. The work is in the testing that follows.
- 02
Intermittent and “problem” vehicles
The cars other garages have given back. Faults that only show in the wet, only when warm, only at idle. With a wiring diagram, live data and the right test gear, they usually give themselves up — it just takes patience.
- 03
Smoke testing and pressure leak detection
EVAP, vacuum and intake leaks, turbo and intercooler pipework. Smoke shows what your nose and a torch can't, and saves hours of guesswork on emissions and running faults.

Trusted by the trade
Independent garages and dealers send me their stubborn cars before they refund the customer. If I can't find it I'll tell you straight — but more often than not, there's an answer in the data.
Diagnostics is detective work. I quite enjoy it.
Thirty-eight years on the tools, qualified Level 5 master technician, an electronics background and a stack of wiring diagrams. That's what it takes to chase a fault that's already had two opinions and a parts bill.
I'll come to the car at your home, workplace or your local garage, anywhere within roughly 25 miles of Kenilworth. You'll get an honest write-up: what's actually wrong, what's needed to fix it, and whether it's worth the spend.
If the work is outside what I do — gearbox internals, bodywork — I'll point you at someone trustworthy. We fit to a standard, not a price, and that goes for advice too.
